Yellow, Blue, Green, White, and Red
Mur Nomade presents a solo exhibition by Hong Kong emerging artist Vivian Poon at Art Central, Hong Kong’s new art fair coinciding with Art Basel Hong Kong.
Yellow, Blue, Green, White, and Red features a series of fifty new works on paper and explores the theme of news and information, using colors to materialize a generalized way of seeing and understanding things. It aims at inviting viewers to reflect on the limitations of knowledge.
Using pages of a vintage school notebook, Vivian Poon created a series comprising two contrasting groups of artworks: simple and serene pieces incorporating artist-made stamps and collages of delicately transferred press articles are complemented by works displaying the vivid colors of expressionist splashes of paint on paper.
At the exhibition, the calm and composed artworks resulting from Vivian Poon’s meticulous and systematic collage method are thoughtfully set-up to respond to the intuitive, nearly instinctive, process of the abstract pieces.
